St Peter’s Church

Opened in 1871 as ‘Balsall Street Chapel’ (‘of ease’), to save residents the journey to St Mary’s Church, Temple Balsall. A small school (now demolished) opened in the end of Holly Lane, again to save the walk to Temple Balsall School. In 1911, the chapel was dedicated to St Peter and re-named St Peter’s Church. Two years later, the school moved to new, larger buildings across the road on Balsall Street East. St Peter’s finally became a parish church in 1959.
