Berkswell Open Gardens
The open gardens event in Berkswell has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity. It is run every other year to keep it fresh. The dates are shown on the home page for the years it is run.
The selection of gardens provides great variety with examples of small and large, formal and informal, and imaginatively planted herbaceous borders along with productive vegetable gardens.
There will be something for everyone and plenty of ideas to take home. Plants will be for sale at some gardens as will teas, home made cakes and ice cream.
Teas will also be available in the Berkswell Reading Room and the beautiful 12th century Norman Church will also be open, as of course will be The Bear where meals will be available.
Children will be very welcome and admitted free so please come along with your families and friends and enjoy the gardens whilst raising money for worthy charitable causes.
It is remarkable that since its foundation in 1927 the National Garden Scheme has donated £50 million to nominated beneficiaries as a result of visitors to gardens opened under the NGS Scheme.
Yellow signs around Berkswell will direct you to the individual open gardens which will be listed in the soon to be published brochure which can be downloaded from the Berkswell Society website.
Tickets and brochures will be available on the day from the Reading Room and at individual gardens.
All proceeds go to the National Garden Scheme for distribution to their beneficiary charities."
In the meantime you can learn more about the NGS and the individual Berkswell gardens by visiting the NGS website on www.ngs.org.uk/find-a-garden/garden/32172/
We look forward to seeing you.
