Greenway and Barratt’s Farm walk

The Greenway as we used to know it has been closed by HS2 Ltd. However, the opening of the temporary greenway on Barratts Farm running parallel with the old Greenway and a new temporary permissive path on the far side (east) of the old Greenway create a circular walk of about 2 miles.

The temporary Greenway has a solid surface like the old Greenway and is dry. It is currently open for walkers/runners only and not horses or cycles.

The permissive path is generally pretty good underfoot.

The links to it are public footpaths from Barratt’s Lane or the east end of Old Waste Lane.

They can be a bit wet/muddy in the winter and boots are advised.

This walk using the temporary Greenway and the permissive path provides a circular walk avoiding the footpath behind Meeting House Lane that gets very, very muddy in winter.

Please note that the footpaths to the permissive path will be closed for a 2-week period at some point before Christmas with one week’s notice. That is to allow for vegetation removal for the HS2 project. Those two paths will be permanently shut at some point in 2021 when the line starts full construction.
